As a Cathedral school, we have a unique opportunity to discover in chapel, in the classroom, or in service to the community what it means to have faith. NCS believes that moral education is as important as academic instruction. NCS encourages its students, as they grow and learn, to develop a sense of respect for, and responsibility to, one another and the world around them.
NCS fosters the idea of community at all-school Cathedral services, as well as Lower, Middle, and Upper School Chapel services. At the Cathedral service, students and faculty create time for reflection and celebration with homilies, writing, music, drama, and dance. The Washington National Cathedral's mission is to be "a house of prayer for all people." Likewise, NCS strives to be a truly ecumenical and interfaith community, where worship provides an opportunity for the affirmation of many faith traditions. Cathedral services recognize the seasons of the Episcopal Church year, as well as the holy days of many different faiths.
