Nathan Price Wins University of Chicago Teaching Prize

For the second year in a row, an NCS educator has won the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award. This year, Upper School Social Sciences Teacher Nathan Price is a 2024 winner, while Voyageur leader John Velosky was a 2023 recipient of the honor.

Each year, newly admitted students at the University of Chicago are asked to propose former educators who have “helped them along the path toward intellectual growth.” In making this year’s award, James Nondorf, the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at U. Chicago, noted that “Nathan stood out among a field of incredible, capable, and inspiring educators.”

Social Sciences Department Chair Daniela Bailey says, “Nathan’s contributions to the department are embedded into the curricula and our approach to student learning. He’s always up-to-date on current scholarships and finds lovely ways to have students connect history to current events and ideas.”

She continues, “Most importantly, he provides compassionate and thoughtful guidance to his students that supports their individual learning needs and celebrates the different ways they contribute to the academic life of his classroom and the broader community.”

Award winners received a commemorative award, a certificate, and a letter with details from the student who nominated them.
