Lower School Enjoys Discover DC Day

Each Lower School grade embarked on a stimulating and multi-faceted Discover DC Day. Fourth Grade began with an African-influenced dance class, and then set out on a Chocolate City Tour where they learned about the history and contributions of African Americans in Washington, DC by visiting landmarks and murals. Fifth Grade enjoyed a program on Art and Architecture of the National Archives and also spent time at the National Gallery of Art. Sixth Grade went to Imagination Stage to learn about theater concepts and theater jobs with professional artists. They participated in an acting and improvisation workshop exploring the roles of actors, followed by a visual arts activity on costume and set design. Their excursion concluded with a guided tour of the National Gallery of Art's permanent collection of French Impressionist art.
