Cellist Leads Workshop for Middle School Musicians
Okorie Johnson returned to NCS for a workshop with the Middle School Chorus and Orchestra. Johnson, who has visited NCS for the last couple of years, demonstrated how he sets up his gear to create his signature loops. He shared how his music both reflects and is inspired by the music of the African diaspora. Johnson then taught the students four separate vocal patterns—that would typically be looped on his cello—and improvised on cello over the chorus of singers!
