Swim Team Sets NCS Records in Individual and Relay Events!
The NCS Swim Team has had a very successful season, with an overall third place finish in both the Independent School League and Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swimming and Diving League. Team members excelled broadly, setting new school records in relay and individual events:
Natalie G. ’24, Willa F. ’25, Sofia V. ’26, and Ellie D. ’25 broke an 11-year-old record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:40.98 at this year's ISL Championship. Then, the relay team of Natalie G. ’24, Adele M. ’26, Sofia V. ’26, and Ellie D. ’25 lowered the mark again at the WMPSSDL Championships with a time of 3:37.55!
The 200 free relay team of Natalie G. ’24, Sofia V. ’26, Adele M. ’26, and Ellie D. ’25 broke its record from a year ago, logging an ISL winning time of 1:39.29. The same relay team clocked a WMPSSDL winning time, and lowered their record again, with a time of 1:38.24.
Ellie D. '25 broke the swim team's longest-standing record. She lowered the 41-year-old record in the 50 Free, held by Sarah Clemmitt, Class of 1983, with a time of 24.37. Ellie also broke the 100 Freestyle record, set in 2019, with a time of 52.72.
Natalie G. broke the swim team's second oldest record, previously set in 1989 by Phoebe McCormick, in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.70.
