Alumna Shares HIV Research Experience with Science Journal Club
In January, Audrey Kinter ’79 met virtually with students from the NCS Science Journal Club to discuss her work in HIV research and the experience of being a woman in science. Kinter highlighted her paper titled “HIV Envelope Induces Virus Expression from Resting CD4+ T cells Isolated from HIV-Infected Individuals in the Absence of Markers of Cellular Activation or Apoptosis.” Her fascinating presentation included discussions of HIV reservoir cells, anti-retroviral therapy, and the progression of HIV research. At the end of the meeting, Kinter spoke about the value and challenge of being a woman in science, ending with an inspirational message to students about women leaders in STEM fields.
