School Store Manager

National Cathedral School (NCS) announces a search for a School Store Manager beginning August 15, 2024. This role carries out the overall operation and management of the school store. This includes overseeing sales, inventory, staffing, and customer service to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently. The manager will work closely with school administration, students, and staff to provide a positive shopping experience while supporting the school’s educational mission. The position is a 10-month position, with some work required during the summer. The store is open 4 days a week during the school year. NCS offers a salary range of $55,000-65,000 depending on experience and a full benefits package, including professional development opportunities. 
 
Responsibilities include: 

Store operations 
  • Manage daily operations of the school store, ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.  
  • Develop and implement store policies and procedures.  
  • Oversee cash handling and financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and security.  
Inventory Management
  • Coordinate with faculty and vendors to order textbooks and supplies. 
  • Maintain inventory levels by ordering products and supplies.  
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and manage stock to minimize losses.  
  • Select and source new products in line with student and staff needs and which promote school spirit.  
Sales and Customer Service
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors.  
  • Develop sales strategies to increase store revenue and promote school spirit.  
Marketing and Promotion
  • Promote store products at special events.  
  • Utilize social media and other communication channels to engage the school community.  
  • Collaborate with school administration to support school-wide events and initiatives.  
Financial Management
  • Prepare and manage the store budget, ensuring financial goals are met.  
  • Generate sales reports and provide regular financial updates to school administration.  
  • Work with business office staff to bill students. 
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures.  
Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure the store complies with all school policies and local regulations.  
  • Maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers.  
  • Address and resolve any safety or security issues promptly.  
Qualifications 
  • High school/GED required; Bachelors preferred 
  • 2 years of experience of relevant managing in a retail environment required; 2 years of relevant experience in a school store preferred  
  • Familiarity with Office 365 
  • Familiarity with Lightspeed or similar POS software  
  • Textbook, supplies, and school apparel purchasing and inventory control 
  • Work at computer for some periods 
  • Lift up to 30 pounds 
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and stooping in the performance of daily activities 
  • Near and far vision
